One-Ear The Cat (An Older Fiction Story I Wrote)

“What could be told(and what should be told), about such a rough-looking creature?”, that is the question, arising from such a tale, from such a life lived, of one-ear the cat.         Abandoned. Left to fend for himself, he learned early on how to fight, how to win. Sure it cost him his ear(or at least part of it), but he got to keep his life; a life that was guarded fiercely. You couldn’t take him down, for he was far too clever to be defeated. Still, there was more to this cat than most knew; just listen and you’ll see as I share this story of a fighter who wouldn’t quit, a cat refusing to stop, no matter what it cost.          They left suddenly, his “people”(owners to us humans). The house was left abandoned one day as he woke up(he was a sound sleeper). He slept in his favorite spot: near an old metal heater by the wall. He knew how to sleep by it without getting burned or over-heat...

The Boy Who Rides Bears (An Older Fiction Story I Wrote)

Such an untamed place birthing a most unlikely friendship where two lives changed. Two lives most would not have expected to befriend the other: a boy and a bear.           On an ordinary day the two could be seen together, sometimes walking side by side, and others with the boy riding upon the bear cub's back. How such vulnerable innocence could peacefully bond with wild creation is the question at hand; one we will answer as our story begins here.          This papa bear was strong, one of the strongest some might even say. This wasn’t merely a physical strength however, it was much more. After such a great loss though, he had to be. First, to the icy grasp of a frozen winter lake, ripping his wife down below it’s once thought fully frozen waters, to the life-altering fight that would change their family once more: that of lioness and her young.           Around came t...

Time (An Older Fiction Story I Wrote)

She spoke to the waves, commanded them to listen, to speak when spoken to, and they did. The wild was tame now, manageable this time. Time. The thing easy to see for her. The world around her, heartbeats of everything and they were heard and understood clearly to this one.            She swam quickly, moved effortlessly through a day. To everyone around her it was only seen as a blur, as some superhuman power. To her it was time, it was listening to the heartbeats of everything, and she controlled herself enough to thrive in it all. Nothing was manipulated, her attention was merely used well, and it was good....especially when she could get to an accident waiting to happen...like the little child falling into the water. She was in time. Sidenote about the piece: This is one of my fiction attempts at trying to make a more realistic superhero type story. In this case I'm considering someone with "super speed", and making it ...

Tiny (An Older Fiction Story I Wrote)

Large. Unknown. This was the world around me. Tiny. Alert. Always watching, searching my surroundings as I go, wondering how to survive.            Life isn't easy for the vulnerable, trying to live and stay safe. Most don't expect though how I might feel insignificant sometimes (especially when danger is much larger and more able to destroy me than most realize!). You breathe. You sleep. You go to the....well, you know what I mean. Most don't know how I seek to live and not merely exist and survive. Most don't realize how I appreciate food, a beautiful sunny day, or a friend I may find from time to time; people especially.            You wouldn't expect such an unusual and unexpected perspective from a life that's as tiny as mine....of a salamander. I may be tiny, but my personality is bigger than most know. Sidenote: If any of the writing on this b...

Slowly (An Older Fiction Story I Wrote)

He stood there, watching all the people and becoming more and more anxious by the hour. He took quiet deep breaths and reminded himself he could do this, that he was a problem solver, that this was what he did here among his co-workers. "Among them.", he thought, wondering why it was easier then to relate. Quickly he realized the difference, it wasn't all of them at once, as well as many others added to those he worked with weekly. It sought to cripple him: the stress of interacting with so many people, all together, in the same room. As he battled it, he remembered how he dealt with the massive workloads regularly: one at a time; so he stepped out of his comfort zone and began doing what he did for income: analyze.           At first he thought analyzing people and solving this social interaction problem would be the same as his regular work tasks. He soon found out this wasn't true. He could still use his skills, but had to ap...

Rain (An Acrostic Poem)

Running downward upon the earth, Always leaving it's presence through liquid, In times expected and not, Never the same way twice.
