Self Portrait Of A Clumsy Flyer (Poetry)

 Running and tripping,

then dusting off;

trying again. 


Running and stumbling,

over and over; 

getting back up and running again.


Up and down,

up and down,

higher and higher each time;

then flight!


Up and down and side to side,

steadying himself,

flying with some turbulence,

while flying with big and small wing,

flying through open skies.

          I saw the child before me, showing joy and innocence, present in the present and fully embracing jubilation even in the everyday. I witnessed the fun still evident in the fundamental responsibilities of daily living as the aging youth went about their day. I saw dancing, then the timid pulling back of a child-like nature.
