A Dog (A Hiaku)

     At a place today, I encountered a dog that was kinder this time than in other times (though still jittery). This writing exercise (below) is my attempt to write that out in Hiaku form).

A Dog


A dog once angry,

Now surprisingly kind here;

A dog still afraid.

I Saw

          I saw the child before me, showing joy and innocence, present in the present and fully embracing jubilation even in the everyday. I witnessed the fun still evident in the fundamental responsibilities of daily living as the aging youth went about their day. I saw dancing, then the timid pulling back of a child-like nature.
