A Strange Hope

Piles, setbacks disguised as piles before me and I had to overcome, it needed to be achieved: dishes to be washed and put away. Such an ordinary thing, in such an ordinary task, and yet this was the very thing used to give what was needed.

There was no obvious reason (to tired and worn souls such as mine) to believe in a possible good here, yet God began speaking as a growing faith prompted hope that began empowering me, “ Go. You can do it.” . “Go.”, so I did, entering the base of this mountainous task before me, one that would have appeared as dishes to all around, but wasn’t to me. “You can do it.”, lingered the words in my mind, a new Divine hope ever reminding me of a possible good in the midst of this intense climb, an ascension where God was making a way for me with each infusion of hope in each progression taken through this journey.

Hope remained, with each leg of this “mountain” completed my burdened soul was refreshed and given  energy to continue. Small words grew louder and exceedingly more powerful as their effectiveness became increasingly evident, clarity was witnessed with every life-giving grace that reached me in taking the next steps. Every attempt that doubt and despair made to persuade me was broken as hope grew stronger than the lies that sought my downfall. Page 2.)

Perseverance was breathed into this broken soul of mine beyond comprehension and here this new way that gave life made me whole, made me stronger. Such unusual aid found in these hard fought paths taken, a new desire to overcome, where strength empowered the weary, healed the fractured, and put right the disorganized thoughts and emotions within me. Confidence to continue filling the once depleted resources of me. Moment by moment, surroundings were taken in, situations assessed as each height was reached, ever higher up the summit ‘til I was no longer looking up but down in triumph upon these chasms of the bleakest valleys now called past struggles.

On these peaks of success reflection becomes the new view, reflection and gratitude. At the top of a “mountain” climbed called ordinary tasks to anyone else there is restoration and peace present. There is a new life formed through the unexpected way, the strange way not sought after. Beautiful is the view of healing and hope, of the hard fought victory won! Encouraging, powerful is this awe-inspiring, life-giving transformation in the encounter of a strange hope now known! To think such a virtue strange is only due to it’s anonymity, a lesser known occurrence of life in everyday living where God and humanity meet, where restoration is found, in one that need be nurtured more, in more: a strange hope that we all need in greater abundance.
