Between Two Buildings

Between two buildings on some busy street corner of a small town I walk, looking as I go. Their towering walls catch my attention more than usual and it makes me pause in soul. Old and worn these brick waves rise and remain, battered and worn as they are.  Still, they stand tall, unyielding to all that life would throw at them. There's a story there I know (probably several I imagine), and I consider it as I walk and inspect for my job.

Between stops and towns I continue, feeling the weight of a cold day and a long route to travel; still I travel. It's not bright, not sunny or scenic, just cold and melancholy. Between two states of mind I walk again, remembering it can't be cold and cloudy forever; so I rise and remain, battered and worn of soul, despite what life throws at me. Between it all I continue, remembering these "cloudy cold days" will not last forever.
