The Chase (A Slightly Older Fiction Story I Wrote)

It was quick, it was clever, this cat and mouse chase that was ongoing. Up then down as obstacles were little else than hurdles, these two unusual participants both refusing to lose. One grip achieved of a victor then only air was known and the chase continued.

He saw her, refused to live another day without her and the whole tense ordeal was underway. He wouldn't let her go this time, not now, not today, and he'd die trying to reach her.

On and on rounding corners until he nearly passed out from the struggle to catch her and all at once he stopped. He began to let go, surrender this unhealthy pursuit with each breath caught and resolve chosen. Then it happened: she came back, she came to him and embraced him.....Joy. Every pursuit was a lie. Every attempt and false notion was exposed and in that welcome and needed embrace he knew joy for the first time. It was always there, he just needed to stop the chase of achieving and live in contentment where his joy was now found.

Note About The Above Piece: This is NOT a story about NEVER achieving anything, but one about learning contentment AS YOU ACHIEVE different things in life, where contentment becomes part of that just journey AND NOT MERELY ACHIEVING THAT GOAL OR THING AT ALL COSTS.
