Creativity Is....(A Poetry/Essay Hybrid Piece)

 Creativity is.....

a new perspective and a solution,

a new way to do something...and doing it.


Creativity is....

seeing something you didn't see before,

putting into action the fresh approach, 

seeing how things were made better,

releasing a joy we're meant to live in.


Creativity is.....

more than the arts,

than some "gift" inherited in a family line,

but a skill that can be improved upon...

even when it's finding a new way to wash dishes 

more efficiently while meeting the challenges of a 

day head on.

Note about the piece: this started out as a poem, and turned into an essay of sorts also. When writing blurs the lines of different genres like this it's referred to as a "Hybrid" piece (something I began learning about, and how to write more of lately), one I wasn't even trying to write here but ended up with in this "Happy Accident" (as Bob Ross puts it).

Just Write (How To Create When You're Beginning And Feeling Overwhelmed)

               You’re stuck. You feel empty. Overthinking seeks to imprison you; you can’t be shackled though, unless you don’t try. Just write. Don’t worry if it’s perfect, or even how much you will be able to write. Listen as you do, listen as that “inner writer” speaks (for they will) and words will arrive to meet you. First a few words will gather together, one by one, making complete pictures; small actions to a bigger result of greater writing. The little will grow, and so will your confidence. I Will Stand My Ground

        Light breaks through as clouds of despair are pierced, as hope begins to shine bright again, fierce and unrelenting. Life enters with the wind where change casts it's welcome breezes, and here I breathe in this refreshing shift of resolve.         Small steps are taken toward the dawning of renewal, a faith restored again as a good to be is reassured and seen in parts with each movement to healing; healing to grace for the broken, direction for the lost...for us all.
