Greeting Scary

The car hid them well, (whoever they were) and then from the dark someone slowly emerged walking toward our son (I was nearby). It was Halloween night and we were out trick or treating and this strange moment happened when leaving one house. It was a bit unnerving to be honest, but then our little boy of not even ten did something encouraging and bold....he greeted them. "Oh, hello.", replies our son in a calm voice; I was laughing at the contrast that just happened. It was funny, though I felt kinda bad for the person who didn't achieve their goal of being scary (in a playful spirit I could tell).

For some reason I'm remembering this moment again today. I wish I could say I'm not deeply frightened by different times in life, but I am. It's times like this we must remember (myself especially) to not let what may be (or just seem) scary not frighten us (not frighten me also); only greet it that we may grow as people and not be held by it's wicked effects.
