Ninjas (An Older Fiction Story I Wrote)
They were ninjas(or at least they seemed like it). Out of nowhere they appeared, striking with precision. We were completely unprepared. The ferocity of their attacks was unexpected to say the least. You wouldn't expect something like that from people as these: coworkers.
Some thought it silly, beneath them, insulting. Others thought it amusing, inventive, a welcome break from the usual nine to five. This little work staff was just big enough to have adequate sized teams. Our boss was just crazy enough to try this team building exercise: nerf gun wars. An office environment holds more hiding places, and more available resources to succeed in such an activity than most realize.
I know some might think this promotes violence, even division (because of teams); oddly enough though it brought us together. Your forty something accountant trying to shoot you with plastic-tipped foam darts is a bit frightening, yet also unexpectedly funny. You run. You scream. You laugh. Such a simple thing that gets creativity flowing again also.
They were ninjas. They were faster than thought. More efficient than realized. Far more fun than expected! They were my coworkers; and I can't wait for the next game.....I mean team-building exercise.
