Casseroles And Creativity
One thing that's available, then another, looking over these random items while considering how to combine them. It's always here that there's a hang up: in creating something good, even amazing. Whether it's fantastic or not the goal is always the same: to make something out of what seems to never belong together. Whether it be the scraps of various materials to build or repair something, or something less manual in the act of taking various food items and ingredients to create a complete meal such as a casserole or hotdish; this is where creativity happens.
I've been there, we've all been there. To not waste what we have is the other part of the challenge, the one where we encounter all these seemingly contrasting elements of our everyday lives and look at how they may go together. Sometimes they can't (and that's alright), all though most of the time they can. With each area of life there are things that do not work, and things that do. There are those items that are before us that we have to work with that are able to create amazing things, and it is here that we must look, pray, and dare to ask the question, "Can we combine these to make something great?" If so, how can we create something new? If not, what must be let go of to create something amazing? Even here however, if the hybrid result (or "casserole" if you will) does not turn out well, we have the privilege of being part of making something entirely new where we grow as people through the process of stepping into unfamiliar territory; for the steps toward bravely making SOMETHING are also growth (whether the thing turns out possible and well or not).
These are the "casseroles" of creativity, these are the things that we look for and can make us grow. What do you have? What can you combine to make something good, even amazing? What needs to be scrapped, and in the perfecting process grow something truly new within you? Some sort of "casserole" that you are unfamiliar with that shows up and grows within your soul to make you better and stronger? Whatever your casserole is, I hope I get to see it.
