Defiance (An Older Fiction Story I Wrote)

"I want to make your life miserable.", uttered the words of this hidden villian. "Just give up!", he screamed again. "Never!", was the person's response, spoken not through words but actions....his resolute will to not surrender.

Day after day, moment by moment, and energy was stolen. Strength was all but gone....all except an iron will and persistent prayers. Days became months and a year was fast approaching. "How long?", he wondered. "How long will this last?", he thought to himself; still, he kept fighting. "Give up! You will not win!", taunted the villian over and over during the months of fighting. "Never!", cried the man with a defiant yet tired voice to this hidden tyrant, his rebellion that would be heard only as a whisper to any it might reach; outside his body.

The foe called cancer couldn't beat him though and he was free from this fight, a fight that took defiance bolstered by the prayers of so many who also fought this enemy.....other survivors of that terrible war.
